If you can’t find it within a second, then you mainly use one of your hemispheres:

With a dominant left cerebral hemisphere you get to the solution by focusing. You make comparisons – so you are slow! No matter you can see every single detail, it does not become conscious because you are busy with searching.

With a dominant right cerebral hemisphere you are still slow. Why? Because you can see everything, though there is no focus. So you have to look at the picture for a long time till you can finally see it.
